Corporate Advisory

Foundations and trusts.

Using foundations and trusts to hold business interests durably, privately and beyond the reach of avoidable risk.

What it is

Business interests, durably held.

Held directly, a business interest is exposed — to risk, to succession, to the friction of ownership passing between hands. Held within a foundation or trust, it can sit durably and privately above the operating structure, protected from avoidable risk and arranged to pass on the founder’s terms.

We advise on whether a foundation or trust fits how a business should be held, design how it should do so, and coordinate the regulated providers who run it. As ever, we advise and design; we do not act as trustee or council.

How we advise

Holding the business

Placing business interests within a foundation or trust where that serves them.

Privacy and protection

Holding interests durably, privately and beyond avoidable risk.

Succession

Arranging how the business passes through the structure.

Advisory role

Designing and coordinating, while regulated providers act as trustee or council.

Important information

The basis on which we advise.

This page is general in nature and does not constitute tax, legal or financial advice. Advice is given only under a formal engagement, on the basis of your specific circumstances.

ORA Black advises on the design, selection and coordination of structures; it does not act as trustee, foundation council member or administrator, and does not hold client assets. Fiduciary, formation and administration services are provided by appropriately licensed and regulated providers. Where regulated financial services are required, these are provided through ORA Black’s partnership with NEBA Private Clients.
